Making lanterns!

If your village, school or maybe even just your group of friends doesn't currently feature a lantern parade in it's annual events diary then now is the time to change that!

What you need:

A cheap paper lampshade from Ikea, B&Q or similar,

a pot of PVA glue,

some coloured tissue paper,

a small battery lightbulb

and a stick.

Simply cut out your desired shapes in the tissue paper, brush a thin coat of glue over them and stick them onto the lampshade (be careful - sometimes the colour can run from the tissue paper!).

Use a bit of tape to secure the bulb to the inside and fix the lantern onto your bamboo (or other) stick.

March around with your fellow lantern bearers enjoying some evening air and revelling in the home made marvels you have created!

Then drink hot chocolate to celebrate the magical memories you have made!
